MACHINISTS UNION’S LOCAL PORNO BOSSES BARRED FROM OFFICE

The ongoing saga of the Machinists’ union’s battle at Bath Iron Works (in Maine) over its local officers’ viewing of internet porn on union computers, as well as shoddy accounting has resulted in a four-year suspension for the local’s president and a two-year suspension for the local’s chief steward.

According to the Maine Public Broadcasting Network:

Two officers suspended from Bath Iron Works largest union have been barred from running for office in upcoming elections.

That’s according to the Associated Press, which reports that the Local S6 President Michael Keenan has been barred from holding office for four years and chief steward Michael Cyr for two years.

The punishments were imposed by a three-member Machinists Union tribunal, which heard allegations and evidence against Keenen and Cyr as well as Vice President Troy Osgood and trustee Cathy London.

According to the AP, London was exonerated, but Osgood’s punishment is “unclear.” The tribunal was investigating allegations of shoddy accounting, viewing of pornography on union computers, and failure to deal with grievances in a timely manner.

The lawyer for the four, Leon Rosenblatt, told the Associated Press that the tribunal’s decision was a “power grab” by the international union, which appointed its own trustee after the allegation surfaced.

With the internet porn charges, it would appear to be a “grab” of some sorts, doesn’t it?

According to the SF Examiner, it appears the Machinists’ mess in Maine will continue, as the accused are suing the union in court.

The four former officers — London, Osgood, Keenan and Cyr — contend they’re the victim of a vendetta. They’re suing for damages in state court.

Keenan said Monday that the tribunal’s decision came as no surprise. “The only thing that shocks me is they didn’t find a way to bar me for life,” he said.

At this point, he’s pinning hopes for clearing his name on the lawsuit. “I’ll see them in a court of law if it’s my last dying breath. I will not sit back and let anyone defame our membership, defame our leadership and defame our name and get away with it,” he said.

Perhaps the foursome are victims of a vendetta. OR, perhaps, they let their fingers do the walking a bit too freely and, now, they’re being overly self-righteous to save face to their friends. Who knows?

One thing we do know is that the Machinists’ mayhem in Maine will be ongoing.

THE UNION WARS EXPAND: Workers United Calls on Laborers to Withdraw Petition on Washington D.C. Hotel

Just when you thought the union wars couldn’t get any more complex, the battle of the union bosses just got a whole lot messier.

The ongoing war between UNITE-HERE and Andy Stern’s new entity, Workers United, has pitted union boss against union boss.
However, until now, the war has been primarily contained between the former co-presidents of UNITE-HERE with Andy Stern backing Bruce Raynor and funding the new Workers United, with many of the other union bosses siding with UNITE-HERE and exciorating Stern and Raynor for raiding UNITE-HERE.
Now, the war seems to be spilling over to involve other unions, including fellow Change to Win union, the Laborers International Union of North America (LIUNA).

Apparently the Laborers union has encroached on UNITE-HERE’s traditional turf (hotel workers in Washington DC). Despite the fact that Workers United is currently raiding (with the SEIU’s help) hotel workers in other parts of the country, Stern and Raynor are urging the Laborers to back out of UNITE-HERE’s turf in what appears to be an olive-branch to UNITE-HERE’s John Wilhelm.

According to this press release:

“Workers United and UNITE HERE are currently engaged in an effort to resolve our intraunion conflict over jurisdiction in a fair and equitable way.

“UNITE HERE represents the hotel workers in Washington D.C., and Workers United respects the work UNITE HERE has done in that city. Furthermore, we believe that it is in the best interest of the hotel workers in Washington D.C. that there be one hotel workers union in that city–UNITE HERE. That is why we are calling on the Laborers union to withdraw their petition and recognize UNITE-HERE’s jurisdiction over these workers.”

Confused? You should be.

With the Laborers entering the fray, it would appear that the union wars are turning into an all out free-for-all, with everyone shooting their arrows at each other waiting to see which falls first.

AT UP TO $15 AN HOUR, HEALTH CARE ‘REFORMERS’ ARE AS PHONY AS ASTROTURF CAN BE

In addition to inferring that those vocally critical of Pelosi care are “Un-American,” when Nancy Pelosi accused grassroots demonstrators of being “astroturf,” a new word entered the American lexicon.

However, Pelosi’s accusation is rather hypocritical as those ‘reformers’ pushing socialized medicine are being paid $10-$15 an hour to “organize to pass healthcare” according to this Craigslist ad:

ORGANIZE TO PASS HEALTHCARE REFORM!!! EARN $10-$15/HR!!! (Los Angeles)
Date: 2009-07-27, 10:47AM PDTReply to: see below

Now is our chance to make health care work.

America’s health care system is broken. Health care costs are spiraling out of control, throwing families, businesses and government into financial crisis. Families are worried their health coverage won’t be there when they need it. Our country can’t afford to wait for health reform that keeps costs down and protects consumers.

We can’t wait for affordable, dependable health care.

We’re fighting for health care that will protect families’ financial health, lay out a clear path for all Americans to afford health care, and improve patient safety and quality care.

You can work for change this summer.

Join motivated staff around the country working to make change happen. You can make great friends and money along the way. Earn $4000-$6000 this summer.

This person needs to be identified and turned in to the authorities before she hurts someone else for exercising their First Amendment rights.

LaborUnionReport.com is asking its readership for help in identifying the SEIU’s blonde brute in this tape so that she can be charged and tried for this heinous hate crime.

The incident occurred outside Russ Carnahan’s town hall on health care, when the SEIU allegedly engaged in violence against those American’s exercising their First Amendment rights.

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch:

St. Louis County police say six people were arrested. Two of those were arrested on suspicion of assault, one of resisting arrest and three on suspicion of committing peace disturbances. Carnahan was gone when the ruckus started.

Kenneth Gladney, a 38-year-old conservative activist from St. Louis, said he was attacked by some of those arrested as he handed out yellow flags with “Don’t tread on me” printed on them. He spoke to the Post-Dispatch from the emergency room of the St. John’s Mercy Medical Center, where he said he was waiting to be treated for injuries to his knee, back, elbow, shoulder and face that he suffered in the attack. Gladney, who is black, said one of his attackers, also a black man, used a racial slur against him before the attack started. “It just seems there’s no freedom of speech without being attacked,” he said.
